word 2003 auto resize option

been using word 2003 for couple of years and just now ran into a snag for
some inexplicable reason. I set up the insert text box and made all the
selections I wanted, including the automatic resize as you type option. It
was working well until all of a sudden the automatic resize stopped and I
couldn't get it to be automatic again. Did I inadvertently hit some
key,because every time after that first error, that I tried to select the
automatic resize from the text box tab, it didn't work. Help!!!
