I work as a contractor for a large corporation that has a lot of
documentation created in various versions of MS Word. The company is
switching to Word 2003 and we have noticed that some of their older documents
will not open. These documents open fine in Word 2002. If you use the Open
and Repair option, you get the following errors in the Show Repairs dialog:
Internal Data Integrity (Type 4) 1
Internal Data Integrity (Type 4) 2
While this operation appears to fix the files so that they will open in Word
2003, we would like to know what is causing the problem. There are thousands
of documents involved and we want to figure out how to identify the corrupted
documents and/or avoid corrupting more documents in the future.
