Word 2002

Hi
I run Windows XP Home Edition SP2. In Add and Remove I have installed,
Microsoft Word 2002 101MB; Microsoft Works 257MB; Microsoft Works 2005 Set up
Launcher 8.02MB and Microsoft Works Suit Add in for Microsoft Word 51.36MB.
For some unknown reason to me every time I attempt to open a word docuement I
get an Alert "Preparing to Install" then the Word document comes up. If I
click my mouse button on any part of the Word Docuement I receive the
following. Alert Box dw.exe - Bad Image. Message "The application or DLL C:
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\office10\riched20.dll is not a
Valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette".
Then Microsoft Word Error Report to either Send or Don't Send. I have
validated Windows Programs and receive a message Thank's for using Genuine
Products.
I have gone through Google, Answers and read lots of interesting reports but
none to fix my problem, can you help please. Kind Regards Chiller.

Did you install all the service packs for OfficeXP?

Firstly, thank you Mary for answering my request. I read everything in the
three links you supplied and found it all way above my capacity to
comprehend. I will either not use Word 2002 or try to find a more up to date

Don't give up, Chiller. The service packs may be all you need.

Thanks Mary, I beat the .Net 1.1 problem so I will continue. I downloaded the
Service Pack from your Link 3 and was
told I already had them on my computer. I am now in your Link 2 "Microsoft
windows XP" step 2: Insert your Microsoft
program CD-Rom into your drive. Mary is it the Works 8 CD or the Works Suit
2005 CD. Regards Chiller.

Sorry, I am using 1(Microsoft Word 2002 Version 10.0.6626.0); 2(Microsoft
Works Version 08.04.0623); 3(Microsoft Works 2005 Setup Launcher);
4(Microsoft Works Suit Add-in for Microsoft Word Version 8.0.0.000). I
clicked on the link you gave me put the Works Suit 2005 DVD-ROM into the
drive, entered the code into Run and received the following."Windows cannot
find DVD-ROM. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To
search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search".

Do you have all your product codes?
Try using the cleanup utility if you do.

Use it on all the applications that you are having problems installing.

I am not having troubles with downloading I am having trouble with trying to use Word. I now use Works Word Processor and will continue to do so. Here are the results of the Problem I am having.

I click on Start All Programs Microsoft Works.
1(Getting started works OK);
2(Microsoft Works Calendar works OK);
3(Microsoft Works Database Does not work. Alert : wksdb.exe unable to locate
component);
4(Microsoft Works Portfolio works OK);
5(Microsoft Spreadsheet Does not work. Alert: wksss.exe unable to locate
component);
6(Microsoft Works Task Launcher works OK);
7(Windows Address Book works OK);
8( Microsoft Works Word Processor works OK);
9(Word Does not work);
10( Encarta Encyclopdia 2005 works OK);
11(Money works OK);
12(Photo Editing works OK);
13(Templates Do not work);
14(Programs Do not work);
15(Projects Do not work);
16(History works OK).
