Woo-Hoo a New EWD build

Yes, always uninstall betas, CTPs or whatever before installing a new build.
I would also suggest you reboot after uninstalling and before installing the
new build just to make sure that there is nothing left in memory.

I guess Rob didn't read the instruction just above the download links :)

IMPORTANT!

a.. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (see below) before installing
Expression Web.
b.. Uninstall all Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 1 programs from your
computer; however, Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh programs can remain
on your computer when installing Expression Web Beta 1.
Since the May CTP of Expression Web Designer installed some Office 2007 Beta
2 tools and as far as I'm aware the Office Beta 2 Technical Refresh is not
yet available (and also required before you can install Office 2007 on Vista
where I have EWD Beta 1 running already - clean install runs fine) I'd
remove it.

When in doubt or unless specifically told it is okay always remove earlier
betas or CTPs before installing newer ones per Joe's excellent advice.

I did read it, but b confused me 'cause I'm not keeping up on Office 2007
beta...and that's why I asked...haven't been involved much with betas for a
lonnng time.

Anyway..I did uninstall it and installed beta 1.
We got working Help now!

I've just DL and installed it and on first impression the only issue I can
see is getting used to going from DW to this.. Getting used to code views and
layouts etc.. I hand code using XHTML & CSS in DW AND use the WYSIWYG view
so I have quite a few expectations after watching the features tours and
reading up about this product..

I am going to start using it later properly and see how I get on, the only
thing thats actually going to change me from DW (Which I have been using for
5 years!!) is the integration of XML & .NET 2.0 and all the testing/reporting
features... Since I am trying to get into ASP.NET this seems excellent...
Just hope it lives up to what I've read in the marketing blurb...

This is much better. In just thirty minutes I reworked the entire site I
have been building and NO crashes. There appear to be many changes "under
the hood". Thanks MS.

So does this mean I have to uninstall EGD and EID as well? Also, is there a
list of the changes?

G

Cool. I would hate to have to go through all that just to get the new
version. I guess now the online help is working?

G

So other than the help files (about time!), what else is different with the
new version?

But it's a heck of a lot better than what was there before ("We're working on
it.")...
