1. This forum is for Microsoft Outlook, not Outlook Express. The only thing
the two clients share is the name. You'll get much better expertise on OE
in one of the Outlook Express forums.
2. Sudden inability to use the correct username and password is a very
common symptom of an AntiVirus application setup to scan email that has
developed a problem with it's name cache. Are you running an AV scanner
that's setup this way?
