wmv file in Photo story 3?

I prepared a photo show using PS 3 and did all the transitions,
motion...etc... When I went to save it using playback for computer, the file
name shows it as a wmv file but when I hit 'save project', it saves it as a
wp3 file which I cant seem to use to make my dvd. I have been using nero and
dvd builder for Roxio and both suggest avi files, but I think I can use wmv.

what am I doing wrong and how do I save this file where I can use it and
create a dvd?

thanks

The .wp3 file is for re-editing in PhotoStory.
The .wmv file is the one you use for the DVD.
The trick is that you need DVD Authoring
software that is compatible with a .wmv file.

And you may want to consider using an
advanced profile for better resolution:

Here's some info:

And / Or...you could import the .wmv file into
Movie Maker / drag it to the timeline and save
it as an .avi file as follows:

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Here we have a typical example of a problem I discussed with Papajohn some
time ago. A lot of confusion comes from the fact that Microsoft doesn't use
the correct terminology. It would be more correct to speak about "saving the
project file" and "rendering the story". People are misguided, resulting in
this problem with wp3 an wmv files being posted here (and in other places)
more than 100 times over the last years!!!

I assume DV-AVI saves the photos with the best resolution ?

any suggestions as to which program to use with regards actually writing the
DVD where the quality and playback is saved at its highest quality?

You can try the DVD Slideshow Builder which is very powerful and very
popular now , i like it very much. It's very easy to create a
customized DVD slide show with photos and videos, and i can add
music, transitions, motion effects and make beautiful DVD menus. Also,
i can create slideshows on iPod, Zune and 3GP Cell Phones, etc.

you can get it here

and a specific tutorial is here
