wmp will not dvd's

i had to reinstall windows home because i let some self employed tech do some
work.during installing he lost my wmp decoder,now i cannot play dvd's.the
errow massage say's there is no mpeg-2 dvd encoder installed on my
computer.i'm no expert by no means, but how can the decoder just vanish,can
it be the guy took it or is lost some where on my pc if so is there a way it
an reinstall it.bear with me just trying to find some answers,tech say ,they
are not communicating with each other.anyone have some ideas? thanks

You will be better off searching for a free player and d/l it.

If you have a dvd drive and a disk for it, there is probably a player on
that.

The newer versions of Media Player won't play dvd's unless you cough up
$$$ for the codecs.
