wmp - sound echoes

M

Matthew Stephens

Perhaps someone can help me - I've had my computer for a
little over a year - starting with the first time I put a
cd into my media library my sound quality is poor - it
has a distinct echo and there is a tinny sound that seems
to coincide with cymbals - i didn't think much of it at
first - I contributed it to cheap desktop speakers -
however, when I finally burned a playlist onto a cd-r to
play on my car stereo it was very noticeable - I have XP
Home, WMP 9, and the Windows Update says that I have all
current updates - the problem stayed when I got the WMP 9
update - I ran DirectX and everything checked o.k. - does
anyone have any other ideas?? -
Thank You

Matt

What bitrate are you copying the files as, under WMP's Tools:Options:Copy
Music?

If you have a secondary music program, such as Avance
Sound Manager, you may have turned on a special effect in
the equalizer section. Depending on the program, it could
record the music on your cd the same way.

thanks for the replies - i copy at 128 - as for other
sound programs, I have Real PLayer and Winamp 3 - these
programs behave the same way - my roxio cd creator does
the same thing - i have the factory installed soundmax
digital audio
