WMP 10 always set to rip?

Whenever I pop a music CD in the drawer of my new WindowsXP Pro machine, WMP
10 opens automatically (which I like) and immediately starts to rip the CD
tracks (which I don't like). I would prefer it just opened and sat there,
allowing me to choose whether to play or rip.
Under Tools|Options|Rip Music| the button to "Rip CD when inserted" is
unchecked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure, but you might want to post in
microsoft.public.multimedia.windows.mediaplayer for more WMP-specific help.

Boatman:
Try: WMP tab VIEW - Go To - untick Rip and tick Now Playing or as you like...

I hadn't seen that option before, bobnrobin, but unfortunately that doesn't
solve the problem. Because everytime I select another category, such as "now
Playing" or "Library", close WMP 10, and then insert another CD, it restarts
with the Rip option checked again! Any other thoughts?

Open WMP
Go to Tools/Options
Click on the "Rip Music" tab
Make sure the option to rip a CD when inserted is not checked.

OOPS. See you had already tried my previous suggestion

So Now Open Explorer and rigfht click on your CD Drive and select
Properties.

Click on the Auto Play Tab
Select Music CD in the drop down box

Select the proper option here that you want.

I have a feeling that rip using Media Player is the option that is
selected on your system.
