WMM2 codec's

What video codec's can WMM2 import, then make simple edits to, like cuts &
joins & then export again? Can the program add new codec's for both
importing & exporting? For instance if I had an MPEG2 or MPEG4 could these
be used?

Movie Maker works with whatever codecs are on your system, but you typically
don't know which ones it's using.

You can turn off a codec from MM2.1's use by using the compatibility tab in
Tools > Options. That feature gives you some visibility into the extra
codecs you've installed... if they show up there, then MM2.1 will be aware
of them and try to use them if and when needed.

It's a complex situation when you get into codecs... if you have an MPEG2
codec, the codec could be available only to the software it came with and
not to Movie Maker..
