WMM won't save to PC anymore

I've successfully saved movies to my hard drive for years. Now when I take
the same steps as before it shows that I'm trying to save to a CD.

How can I fix this problem?
Has this anything to do with automatic updates?

Thanks

The same choices are there with 'Save to PC' highlighted at the top. Usually
I don't have to do anything, just proceed to the next screen. Now, even if I
make sure "PC" is selected, then move to "Movie Setting," the final screen
before the save, everything still looks as before. It's when I click "Next"
that it indicates that it's trying to save to a CD. It then just sits there
doing nothing. (The destination does indicate my desired location on the hard
drive.)

Is there any value in removing the program, downloading and reinstalling it
again?

Thanks for responding - I have a lot of projects that depend upon this.

MM cannot easily be removed on it's own, being part of windows.
You could try a repair install of windows.

I'm afraid I have no experience with 'repair install.' There was a Microsoft
Automatic Update about a week ago. It may have had something to with the
problem. Movie Maker worked fine before that. How about if I do a Restore
System (or what ever it's called)? Is that what you mean?

Graham: I just did a restore to a point before last automatic update. Movie
Maker seems to be working as it should. Thanks for the tips.

Interesting, do you by any chance know which update it was you removed?
Just so we can note it.

Sorry, I don't have a number. I can assume it was while I was away on
vacation that the update was sent to my computer. When I came home on 5/17 it
was downloaded and then installed when I turned the computer off that
evening. The following Monday the same thing happend on my work computer.
Perhpas MS could backtrack to see what was sent and when.

Incidentally, after I did the restore I turned off the automatic update, and
yet it wanted to install an update upon shut down. I haven't let it do that.
I would like to eliminate the automatic bit and just review them myself.
