WMM with nvidia geforce5200-pls help

Hi,
I am trying to connect my Gainward Nvidia Ge force fx 5200 to a JVC sVHSc
camcorder model GR-SXM26OU . With the camcorder I am using the S-video on the
camcorder into the S-video on my video card. I turn on the camcorder then
left-click on "Capture from Video Device" in WMM. An error appears saying,

"A video capture device was not detected. Verify that device is turned on
and connected properly, and try again."

Using the "File" drop menu "Capture video" also gives me the same error.

I thought it may be a driver issue so I went to
gainward.de/new/main.html
clicked on "Support"
clicked on "Drivers"
I see quite a few updates and am wondering:
a)how can I find out what driver I have at the moment
b)Does NVIDIA WDM 2.26 appear to be my best bet on fixing this user
(me) error?

I realize many/all of you may be tempted to say, "Windows Update will find
out for you, duh!" I do not like to update hardware drivers through that
because many-a-time it has given me problems.
If anyone has a suggestion please help
thank you

MM does not work well with analogue input, so it may just be this.
Does your fx5200 have analogue in, mine doesn't?
If it does, it should have come with it's own capture app, you will have to
use this. Then google for an app to convert it to an avi or wmv file to
import into MM, as it will usually make a mjpeg file.
