Wish to create column in contacts for recurring dates.............

I wish to be able view my prospective customers - namely payroll accounts -
by their respective, annual, recurring, 'start date' for employee benefit
enrollments - for instance (Nov 1). I desire the ability to simply sort the
contact view, in chronilogical order, two months in advance to show all
'approaching' start dates in order to alert me to begin my contact.

I have attempted creating such a column but Outlook seems to override my
actions by inserting 'alert flags' or not accepting specific dates. Ant
suggestions?

In Contacts you make New Fields and can set their properties to be Text,
Date/Time, Duration etc. What did you try and what didn't work about that
method?

Tell us your version too please.
