Wirelsess Problem

I have a problem using my IE and other internet applications at other
wireless hotspots besides my home network. My laptop will say that I have a
connection at a hotspot but when I click on IE or anything else its as if I
do not have a connection. The networks I access are not secured or password
protected and I have my norton security set to allow traffic. Why can I not
use internet at other wireless hotspots besides my own home network.

I'm not an expert but I do think that wirless connectivity away from your own
paid for connection is not available or free. I think it is quite possible
that if you have not purchsed air time (seperate to your home ISP) then that
is why you can not log on

If these are wireless hotspots at commercial sites (like airports, book
stores, restaurants and the like) many of them require payment to use them.
They will show as an open network but you won't be able to access them
without a password or certificate.
