Wireless Printing

R

Rambus

I have a home PC (PC 1) connected to the internet through the LAN port of a
D-Link wireless router. I have ordered another PC (PC 2) that will be
connected wirelessly to the internet (through a wireless PCI card). PC 1
has Win XP-Pro & PC 2 will have Win XP-Home. There is a printer connected
to PC 1 (USB port).

1. Is there any way to print wirelessly from PC 2 using PC 1's printer?

2. Can the wireless internet connection also function as a wireless network
(i.e. file sharing)?

3. Can I set up PC 1's printer as an internet printer & give it an IP
address?

4. If the answer to all the above is 'no', can I physically link the 2 PCs
with a network cable? (through the respective ethernet ports). Does it
matter which PC the printer is connected to? (i.e. Win XP-Pro or Win
XP-Home)?

Thanks.

There is supposed to be no difference if you share the printer over a
wired/wireless network. As long as the network can "see" the printer, it is
available to all the PCs you choose to give access to.

The only difference is if you which to connect the printer directly to the
wireless router. You may have to locate a wireless print server.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Don’t do that, any one could print from your printer and access
your computers files.
