Wireless On/Off switch?

I have a media pc, well, just a computer hooked up to my HDTV. I am looking
for a way to turn it on and off remotely, but it looks like none of the
wireless keyboards have that option :(

So as an alternative I was looking for any IR module I could get that would
be able to switch my power supply on and off using the motherbard on/off
pins (the 2 pins on the motherbard to which the case power switch connects
to). I searched on google with no luck. Have any of you guys aver seen
something like that? Seams like a pretty simple thing to make.

Also, can any one give me any feedback on the MS Remote Media Center
Keyboard? As in, if it has any power features like I described, and if the
trakpoin is any good.

Thank you,

- Bogdan

Realy simple to buy :)
Either the 433 MHz or the 833 MHz type.
Just Google "remote control 433 MHz" and be overwhelmed.

Note: check your bios settings. Here you can control how your PC
will react to power being applied to it.
Commonly, this is set to 'previous state'. Which isn't any good
in your case, as that 'previous state' is likely to be 'off' :)
Set it to 'on' and you can switch on your PC by just providing
power to it.

They don't necessarily need it. If your PC has a turn on by
USB or PS2 feature you may still be able to turn on the
system with the keyboard so long as that keyboard receiveris
plugged into a port that is supplied by 5VSB power so it
remains turned on.

Try searching Google for "infrared relay"

You may get hits like this,
http://www.infraredremote.com/4relay.htm

I think there are some hardware enthusiast 'sites that show
a way to DIY, but I can't recall the 'sites at the moment.
One of them also did it an easier way, they used one of
those remote doorbells which is RF instead of IR, and added
their own relay to it, IIRC.

Thank you, that helped a lot. Both of you gave me some good keywords to
search for, and I think I found just a kit I need :)

Thanks again,
