1. I have desktop & laptop both access the internet via router & DSL
modem, the laptop is wireless,but.... I can't share files & printer
between the two of them, I can't see them on the same netwrok when I
try "map network" and when I try to set a home netwrok wizard it
allways errors out with some "spool SBA" can't establish network, I
disabled printer from the start-up menu and also tried diabling the
firewall but keeps poping up enabled again

2. how can I make sure it's secure?

thanks

Wifi isn't secure. A basic rule of thumb--don't send sensitive information through the air! I'm sure your modem has plugins for ethernet, and both your computers should, too. (Especially the laptop) Use ethernet if you're concerned about security. But for average surfing and keeping neighbors from leeching your bandwidth... even WEP encryption dosen't work well. If I were to wardrive you, (wireless access reconisance -- sit in my car outside your house with antenna and laptop) I could crack your WEP in 15 mins if you were using your network, and could do it in about 3 hours if you weren't.
