Wireless networking on Dialk-up connection.

Hi Folks,

I m fairly new to wireless concept. i recently bought a Netgear
wireless router to have wireless internet at my home.

Can somebody tell me how can I setup a dial-up internet connection on
the wireless router so that I can use internet from my drawing room or
any other part of the house. The problem is that in my area there are
no broadband connections available so I have no options except a
dial-up internet.

Any advice will be much appreciated,

thanx,

Sam

Does this netgear box have a phone jack? that would be the easiest way
to do it.

This is usually done with an external mpdem connected to a serial port on
the wireless router. The router would have to be equipped with a port and a
method of designating it as the main connection, plus a way to configure it
to dial and authenticate with your ISP. There are several SOHO wireless and
non-wireless devices that have a serial port as a backup to the main
connection, and also some devices that specifically share a dial-up
connection. If your device doesn't support this, you'll need to exchange it
for one that does.

no it does not have the phone jack. Can't I just use my other
computer's modem to dial and then re-route the internet to my Router
via the LAN cable that came with it.

Sure, this is what u can do:

notebook -> LAN -> desktop (ICS) -> modem -> phone.

U will be doing the dealing from the desktop, which uses Windows' ICS
to route Internet to the rest of the LAN. Your desktop then, is
servicing as the router.
