Wireless Network Problems

Tim

Hi,

I have a XP Home desktop with a Linksys Wireless G PCI
WMP54G card in it, and a Laptop with XP Pro and a 3Com
OfficeConnect Wireless 11g PC card.

I have set up a wireless ad-hoc network between them , and
both PC's say that the network is OK between them, with an
good signal.

The problem I have is that I can't make them see each
others shared folders. On the XP Pro laptop I have made
sure that Simple File Sharing is enabled. Both PC's have
SP2 applied.

Got any idea's?

Cheers

The first thing that comes to mind is to disable any firewalls on each
machine. I fell into that trap when I set up my ad-hoc months ago and
darned if I didn't repeat it when I switched to a peer to peer through a
router.

I had a similar problem that was solved on this group.

1. Make sure that the "Guest" user account is active on both machines
2. If you have a software firewall, add the home network's IP range to
the "trusted" list.
