Wireless network card timeout on desktop

N

Neil W.

I upgraded my Dimension desktop to a wireless network card, and now the
network connection randomly disconnects if left idle for a period of time
(not sure how long, but definitely less than a day).

It only comes back if I "Repair" the wireless connection or reboot.

It never happened when I was using a a wired network card. All power
schemes are turned off. I am using XP Pro with SP2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Neil W,
Try the following:
Control Panel> System> Hardware tab> Device Manager button> Under Network Adapter> Right click the Wireless Network card> Properties> Power management tab> Uncheck box, "Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power."

See if that helps.
