Wireless Logon to domain not working

R

Ron Grove

I am having problems with my wireless laptops connecting to the domain. This
is after I have added the laptop to the domain without any problems. What
happens is that when you try to logon on you get a message saying the domain
in not available. I then have to logon to the local domain and connect to
the access point then I can then log into the domain. How can I fix this
problem?

Thanks for your time.

Sounds like your wireless device isn't coming up on the network fast enough,
so you aren't able to see the domain. If you're not using the Windows WZC
(Wireless Zero Configuration) system to configure your wireless devices
(using the device manager software instead) you may need to get WZC working.
Even so, if the device doesn't initialize until after login that won't solve
your problem.

You may wish to consider caching logins on the client - that will allow a
login using cached credentials, although you may still get a warning that
the domain isn't available. But that will let users log in, and once the
device connects and stabilizes you'll have full domain connectivity.
