Wireless Link problems

Hi,
My mother-in-law used to have a Windows 98 PC and a wireless LAN link
which was OK (2 out of 5). Then the PC was moved and the link strength went
to 1/5 (or sometimes zero). I put that down to just interference until I
brought my own laptop over and niticed I had 5/5 signal strength.
I changed the network adaptor, router and eventually the PC (she upgraded
to a Windows XP) and nothing improved things. I also changed channel numbers.
The only thing I did not changes was the CRT monitor. Is there any chance
that interference from the monitor could cause this (remember my laptop
(built in in WLAN) worked fine.
thanks,
Montreal

Wireless cards for desktops have one inherit design flaw, at least in my
opinion. The antennas are so close to the floor that a loss of signal is
easy to do, or at least a very low signal. What to do? Get an antenna
extender and get the router away from any interference.
I will presume you obtained the lated drivers for this card and you are
letting the Windows Zero Configuration (WZC) utility handle the connection
rather than the third party tool. Believe me, Microsoft got this right the
first time.
