wireless lan connection

Greetings
I have a Dlink DI-624 router connected directly to my computer and a cable modem, using Win XP. There is one other computer connected wirelessly using Win ME. Both computers can access the internet without problem. Problem is that I have been trying to set access to the printer on the XP machine, (setting up the network via XP) and cannot seem to get the two computers to recognize each other as being on the lan. I can ping each computer from the other using IP addresses but not computer name

Any assistance gratly appreciated
