I am trying to help my son with his wireless connection. He has moved into a
new apartment and can access a neighboring unsecured wireless internet
connection on both his roommates computer and his iPhone but on his computer
it shows as being connected but he is receiving the following message: "you
are connected to a network that is not configured by security". I had him
dissable his Norton Antivirus software and he went as far as removing the
software from his computer. Anybody have an idea on how we can solve this
issue? Thanks for your help, it is appreciated.

He`s trying to connect through somebody else`s wireless connection ?
Does he have permission ? It also means the wireless connection (
neighbours) is not secure ; needs to be password protected .

Are you aware that using a neighbor's wireless internet connection is
illegal, and you are asking for help in stealing?

Illegal or unethical?

If the neighbor is stupid and doesn't have the connection protected,
then I would suspect that "unethical" is the operative term.

If the OP has hacked into the connection then "illegal" would be
correct.

You're stealing internet without your neighbor's consent, so of course
it's illegal. If your neighbor couldn't care less than it's okay. Relax
though, you're not going to get caught. You do risk your info being
hacked into if your neighbor is the hacker type.
