Wireless Connected but Aps Won't Connect

E

Emory Richter

Using XP SP2
my desktop which is connected to the modem and router
does connect to the internet.
And, I can ping yahoo.com
[Sent = 4, Received = 4]

Using XP SP2
a laptop at the far end of the house
does make a wireless connection to the internet.

Using XP SP2
my IBM T43 laptop,
very near the router
could previously reach the net.

Presently my
Wireless Network Connection info reads:

Speed: 54.0 Mbps
Signal Strength: Excellent
Status: Connected

But on my IBM laptop
the browser, FTP, news and email aps
fail to get on the internet.
And, yahoo.com is unreachable, pinging.
[Sent = 4, Received = 0]

Repairing the Wireless Connection dosn't help.

Windows firewall is off
and ZoneAlarm has been uninstalled.
I dont know what it means but
msconfig> Services> Net Logon
is 'Stopped' in both computers.

Using the wireless connection
how can I get on the web ?

You need to know that the wireless network is done in two steps:

1) Wireless "network" is connected

2) Wireless "connected" network is assigned a IP address.

Once the above two "steps" are completed, only then you are able to
get onto the Internet. TCP/IP address is the principle requirement to
access the Internet.

Also, try pinging the IP address 209.191.93.53 (yahoo.com)
