can anyone give me some advise plse .i have a pc hardwired through a non
wireless router and i have just bought a laptop with wireless on it .if i
buy a wireless usb dongle for my desktop pc could i then wirelesly connect my
laptop to my desktop pc and access the internet any help[ would be
appriciated

Sure. You can setup Ah Hoc connection that is peer to per connection. Then enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the host computer.

A USB dongle with ICS would work, but for less than the ~$50 cost of that
dongle, you can replace your router with a wireless router, and get a more
robust configuration.
