Wireless Adapter Issue

M

Mbt6

I have a compaq nc6230, trying to use wireless, Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG
Network Connection.

From Device Manager, I continue to get the error "This device cannot start.
(Code 10).

I hover over the item in the system tray and get the message, "No supported
wireless adapters availablae in the system"

I double click the item in the system tray and get the error, "Intel(R)
PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter.
Please install a supported adapter.

The really odd thing, somedays I get the above errors, and some days I don't
and it will connect to my wireless network just fine. When I do get the
error, it doesn't simply go away by restarting. Tonight I did that 4 times,
with no success.

According to Intel web site, I have the latest driver installed.

Any ideas?

The 2915ABG is in a Mini-PCI Type 3A formfactor. I guess that means it
is connected to the PCI bus of the computer. It shouldn't be as flaky
as USB :)

Get a copy of Everest. Make notes of what things show up under Devices:pCI
in both the working and the broken condition. It could be a bad
connection somewhere.
