Hi Guys,

I have set up a Windows 2000 server in my office with active directory
running.

How do I get windows XP clients to utilise the active directory? At the
moment they do not despite joining the domain.

Not sure what you mean by 'utilize the active directory' - you joined them
to the domain, right? And they all have domain accounts and are logging into
them, not logging into any local accounts?

Yes,

but when I want to browse/search for domain users, groups, or search for
printers etc in the directory the only object they can see is the local
computer and not all the objects/computers registered in the active
directory

Hi Guys,

running.

I have copied the XP adm files to the 2000 server inf dir

How do I get windows XP clients to utilise the active directory? At the
moment they do not despite joining successfully to the domain.

When I try to select the server GPO from within XP client I get the error
message

"The program cannot open the dialogue box because no locations can be found"

Thanks in advance

Make sure all servers and workstations specify *only* the internal
AD-integrated DNS server's IP address in their network settings. The
AD-integrated DNS server should be set up with forwarders to your ISP's DNS
servers for external resolution. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202 for more
info.
