We use WINS in my network. And we use ISP's DNS Server for Name Resolution
for PCs with Internet Connection.
Internally, for Name Resolution we use WINS and for Internet Surfing we use
DNS. We do not have internal DNS Server. And DNS Server is only configured
in those PCs in which Internet Connection is provided.
Now, in this scenario we face problem in Windows XP Prof. PCs. In Network
Places of WinXP, we are not able to see all the PCs in our network. Also,
the Win98 PCs are not able to see the WinXP PCs in their Network
Neighbourhood.
I think this is the problem with WinXP's support for WINS. For internal
Name Resolution, the WinXP goes to DNS Server rather than WINS Server. I
want to set it in the way that, WinXP for Name Resolution goes to WINS first,
and then to DNS Server.
Is there any way to do it?
Thanking You.
Denis.
