WinXP SP2 MDAC problem

Access to SQL server is ok when using SQLserver tools (enterprise manager /
query analyzer) or collecting data through Excel.

By some reason I cannot connect when running a ASP-script, resulting in a
"access denied". The same script can connect without problem on another
machine

I suspected MDAC version problem and have tried to install 2.8, but getting
the response that "2.8RTM is incompatible with this version" and cannot be
installed.
Downloaded the ComponentChecker tool from MS/downloads which says I have v2.5

It's a WinXPP SP2 which should as I understand include v2.81 when installing
SP2
When checking with ComponentChecker and comparing it to "MDAC 2.8 SP1 on
Windows XP SP2" the result says that 34 files are mismatch

Going down in registry to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess I find
Full21Install 0xffffffff
FullInstallVer 2.81.1117.0
IE5_Version 0.0.0.0
RollbackVersion 2.60.6526.2
SavedRollbackVersion 2.81.1117.0
Version 2.0.0

Problem solved after reapplying SP2 for WinXP
After that the ComponentChecker also said "2.8 SP1 on WinXP SP2" as expected

I just realized that the problem could have occured when the computer was
reinstalled a couple of weeks ago I applied SP2 and after that installed
Office2000, which must have overwritten sofe files with their older version
from 2.5 and left enough so the installer for 2.8 thaught that I had 2.8SP1
