WinXP Media

Where can I learn about the differences between the Win XP Home I now use
and WinXP Media version? I'm interested in differences in features and also
PC requirements.

Thank you

The differences are the same as between XP Pro and XP Home with two exceptions.

MCE 2005 will not join a domain, except at initial installation.
MCE 2005 will not cache network logon credentials

Other than that, XP MCE 2005 has all the features and functions of XP Pro.

Thank you. Are these advantages or disadvantages? (I'm in the market for a
new laptop and am trying to figure out whether I want to have or avoid MCE).

I am unsure how we would know if those two things are advantages or
disadvantages to you.
We do not know your situation or what use you will have for said machine.

If you have to join a domain at some point - this could be a disadvantage.
If you are going to be in a domain - you should just get Windows XP
Professional.

Since there's nothing in XP Home that's not also in MCE, there's no
disadvantage to MCE. Whether MCE's extra features are advantages depends on
your needs and desires. Only you can answer that question.
