WinXP and USB2.0

I have WinXP Home SP1 with the USB update downloaded and installed. My
problem is that the USB2 ports don't work. In fact, they upload data at
around .50Mbit/s (when they work at all) compared to the 6.0+Mbit/s I'm
getting on USB1.1. I have an MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard with the VIA
chipset. The USB2.0 bracket included with the motherboard installs
correctly, but barely functions. I went out and bought a Belkin 5-port
USB2 PCI card and I'm having the same problem. I've tried 2 different USB2
devices, a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra MP3 player and a MicroAdvantage 256MB
flash drive.

I have completely reformatted and reinstalled Windows and still the same
problem. I have used updated Belkin drivers in place of the Windows
drivers and same problem.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do next?

I have seen mention of problems with VIA USB 2.0
chipsets...look for updated VIA drivers/patches.

Sometimes, to correctly activate USB 2 ports, you may need to uninstall all
USB devices, ports and root hubs from Device Manager. Then, let Windows
redetect all USB stuff.

Tried that in both regular and safe mode. Still nothing. Heading back to
Best Buy today to return the Belkin card and get a different brand. I've
been reading where a lot of the Belkin cards were defective not to mention
their technical support is horrible.

Okay, I'm using an AMD based motherboard and I also use Vcool to help keep
the processor cool (and the fan noise down a bit). I decided to stop
programs from running while trying to transfer songs to an MP3 player over
the USB2 port (I was getting *maybe* 1.5Mbit/s but it seemed to lock up a
lot). Anyway, I stopped Vcool from running and my speeds jumped up to
15-16Mbit/s in the transfer. I started Vcool again and they dropped like a
rock. So, I turned off the Idle Loop option and up the speeds jumped
again.

Next, I began the transfer with the Idle Loop turned off (before the
transfer had already been going when I turned it off) and my upload speeds
were 34-36Mbit/s.

So, anyone having slow USB2 problems using Vcool turn off the Idle Loop
option. BTW, I'm using Vcool 1.8 BETA Options (b10).
