where WINS server is located?

Where does it come from?
Installed on each client during IP installation or otherwise?

How do I know what WINS server address to use in the WINS tab of TCP/IP
properties?

The WINS address is the server that you installed WINS on.

There is no correct answer. It could be installed on either or both w2k
servers or somewhere else on your network.

I don't have "else" in my network and both machines are w2k pro.
From your next door message I understand that I do not WINS at all

The reason I am digging into this is I keep having errors like "network name
is no longer available" or "unexpected network error" or printer is not
accessable, and I am trying to see what is wrong with my settings
