WinRE Issue (Vista RTM x86)

Andrew Johnson

Hi,

I installed WinRE ages ago using the information in the official WinRE blog
and decided to have a closer look at it today.
I can get to the System Recovery Options screen but there is no "command
prompt" option at the bottom. All the other options are there though. Did
I do something wrong when I set it up or perhaps use an outdated WinAIK or
something??
Thanks for any advice.

Best wishes,

Andrew

I've still had no luck on solving this. I tried again with the new WinAIK
for Vista SP1 but the result is the same.
Anyone else seen this or have a solution?
Thanks!

Does no-one answer issues with WinRE?
Here's another one about it that I'm trying again:

Subject: startup failure & system restore 'WINRE' query 4/7/2008 6:12 AM
PST
By: IANV In: microsoft.public.windows.vista.performance_maintenance

When a restart froze my PC after a program update, and the automatic Startup
Repair also failed, System Restore kicked in, but announced it could restore
my main OS_INSTALL (C) disk - but not restore WINRE (X) as well. I finally
found an OK restore point. But looking now at my SystemProperties\
SystemProtection tab I do see WINRE (with a folder icon, not a drive icon) as
a currently unchecked but available disk option for when creating restore
points.
Searching Vista online help suggests WINRE is a 'Windows Recovery
Environment' - but why is it in my SystemRestore options box? And should I
tick it for including in restore points? Why doesn't Vista Help tell me these
kinds of things in the first place?
-
Cheers,
IanV
