winodws picture and fax viewer?

I use Windows Picture and Fax Viewer sometimes to view my pictures. I have
a 5mp digital camera and when I take pictures that size, when I view them
with WPFV and try to zoom in, it takes at least 2-3sec to zoom. Is there
anyway to speed this up? would have thought that pc was just slowbut if I
view the same file in photoshop 7 and zoom it works just fine.

The Windows Picture and Fax Viewer applet that comes with Windows XP, is
slow, and not very configurable. There are many faster, and some FREE image
viewers available for download. Although not free, I prefer to use ACDSee
for an image viewer and image file manager. Images load as quickly as
clicked. ACDSee allows for opening images in NEW windows, so you can have
many images open at the same time. Zooming in and out and Full Screen are
fast as well. Plus, you can easily copy or move image files to different
folders quickly. You can download a trial version of ACDSee at:

If you are looking for a FREE image viewer, IrfanView at:

www.irfanview.com

At any rate, for a quick image viewer, I DO NOT suggest Windows Picture and
Fax Viewer. I unregistered that DLL file, and the ZIP FOLDERS DLL file (I
use WinZIP instead) the first day that I used Windows XP. Although Windows
XP is a good operating system, some of the included applets are best
replaced with third party programs/utilities that do the job better.

Answered in customise/newusers/helpandsupport. Please don't multipost. If
you must, please CROSSPOST to no more than THREE relevant groups. It's a
waste of bandwidth and people are going to become very frustrated repeating
themselves. If you crosspost, people can see what suggestions have already
been made in other groups, and they won't suggest the same thing.

Use a different viewer - like the free Irfan view at www.irfanview.com
