I am not that computer literate. I don't know what you
mean when you say: "rename the system hive found in
%windir%\system32\config\system
to system.old
then rename
%windir%\system32\config\system.alt
to
%windir%\system32\config\system"

I can learn if you show me. I read on knowledge base that
I should look in note pad, but I did not find what they
mentioned. help

You can copy those commands word for word while in the recovery console. If
it doesn't make sense then you're doing the right thing by not even trying.
Get someone to help you with this.
