WINNT on Windows XP

I did a full install of Windows XP Pro.
I was running Windows 2000 Pro.
Now I have a 2.26 GB WINNT folder on my C:\ containing 13700 files.
Can I get rid of this folder to regain some space??

It sounds to me that you did an upgrade and not a clean install. If it had
been a clean install, XP does not create a WINNT directory by default. The
system directory in XP by default is "C:\Windows" So, the WINNT folder that
you have is probably the system folder.

No, not until you confirm as to where are the Windows XP system files?

Hi,

You did a clean install or an upgrade? Click start/run, type %windir% and
click ok. What folder does it open to? If \Windows, then the \Winnt folder
is likely the remnants of your Win2000 installation and can be safely
deleted. If it opens to the \Winnt folder, then that is the folder you are
using for the current installation.

Did as you suggested.
The C:\windows folder came up.
So I guess that's where my system files are.
I'll do a backup and start deleting just to be sure everything still works.

Thanks all for the input.
