winmail.dat attachments (All of a sudden!)

The strangest thing "just" started happening. I've been sending myself
messages for "years" but now when...

I access my desktop pc with Remote Desktop.

From my desktop's Outlook, when I send attachments to two email addresses
(one is my primary address; the other a "backup") then access the messages
with web-based mail, I get the correct native attachment in one account and
a sole winmail.dat attachment in the other.

Please please please help me understand AND rememdy. It's driving me crazy.

I tried the recommended solution referred to in Article ID 278061 to send
plain text to "my" email address, but I don't have "address book" option. I
only have "contacts" option.

Thanks.

It appears you're sending Rich Text messages to the mailbox seeing the
winmail.dat files. Send the message in HTML or Plain Text. If you have
HTML defined as the default format already, then open the contact record
representing the address receiving the winmail.dat file, double-click the
email address. Is there an "Internet format" drop-down at the bottom? If
it is, make sure it says "Let Outlook decide the best sending format".
