Hi,
One box w/ XP Pro just started giving me problems. When
I login, as anyone, either on domain or local accounts,
administrator or restricted user, XP Pro is never
finishing its load up into the GUI.
I have looked at the Processes (after waiting up to 10
minutes for the Task Manager to load) and noticed that
the only non-zero CPU process is winlogon.exe, which is
running at 97-100%, the CPU total fluxtuates from 0% to
100% then back. I do not see any drop in the winlogon %
during any period, so I am assuming the problem is here,
though I could be very wrong.
In the past I have altered the profile size, and tweeked
other things to remedy, however, I can't even get this to
load enough to do anything like that, and as well it is
happening even on the local admin account which is
otherwise never used.
Might this be a virus? Something else? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Cameron Brown
