WinFax Pro Crashing - how?

Like all these other people, my Outlook 2003 is crashing and it sauys
it is dues to Symantec WinFax Pro.
HOWEVER, I never purchased any Symantec products (because I know how
screwed up they are) so how is this crash everyone else is also
experiencing hapening to my computer? It does not exist in add/remove
programs or anywhere else I can see. Could it be hidden somewhere?

No. The computer is about a year old and it started with XP pro and
Outlook 2003. I zero filled the drive about a month ago. The only
Symantec program that could have touched this is when I did a free
virus scan off their website BUT I removed the Active X controls
afterwards and I clear the cache and run ad-aware frequently. There is
a winfax.dll icon under c:\windows\system32 but I do not know what that
is or how it got there. I searched the c-drive and there is nothing by
symantec there. Nothing in the add/remove list and nothing in the
startup area, program list or programs under c:\program files.

It's a known bug in the crash analysis. I reported it a while ago and have
been checking every week since then but no word from MS about the real cause
or a fix or a change in the bug reporting.
