windowsupdate giving ActiveX security message

G

Guest

I have a PC that won't let me use windows update. When I try to go to the
site, I get "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls
on this page....". I have added "http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com" to
the trusted sites and have even tried setting the entire internet zone to low
(temporarily), but it still gives the message.

Should I (can I?) reinstall IE6?

Thank you

Hi Rich :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Windows Update Troubleshooter
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

also...

Zone Err Msg: Your Current Security Settings Prohibit Running ActiveX
Controls on This Page...

Hope this helps

Tried this one, didn't help. I then noticed that it was an SBC/Yahoo version
of IE, so I will have to call them.

Thank you,

Rich

Are you running a Firewall, such as ZoneAlarmPro? If you have blocked
Mobile Code in the Privacy settings, you'll get that message.
