Windows XP won't load

Hi

Can anyone help my daughter with a pc problem please?

She has a COMPAQ EVO N410C P3 MOBILE 1.2GHZ LAPTOP 512MB RAM 30GB

She had a warning from the windows security centre about missing anti virus
protection etc. after my son-in-law had tried to download something from the
internet. She attempted to close WindowsXP and turn the laptop off however
it just kept asking to run a programme (security software off the internet).
Finally the laptop turned off however when it was turned on again next day it
went to the compaq screen, windows started initialising and then a message
came up saying windows was unable to open possibly due to a change in
software or hardware and if we didn't know what the problem was to click on
the option "start windows normally". She tried this but it took her round in
circles.

She did not get a restore disk with the laptop nor a copy of Windows XP as
everything was pre loaded.

Any ideas on how get WindowsXP running would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Marina

First you should get the xp cd from the mfg or a restore cd,at some point
you'll have to have one....Either way,on pc start,tap the F8 key,select
safe mode,
enter xp as administrator, see whats running in task mgr & end if needed.And/
or,open event viewer & get OS problem(s) in detail....
