Windows xp start up problem

I am using windows xp professional a.d experiencing some problems using it.
While starting the system the system asks for "Start Windows normally",
"Command Prompt" etc. When any option other than Command Prompt is clicked it
asks for scan disk (blue screen). When Command Prompt is clicked, the system
processes and aftrewards it hangs. After disk check up it reboots
automatically. This process is on infinite loop. If the scan process is being
skipped then also the system restarts.
What shall be done ?

sounds like some of your drivers still in process (Not closed while you shut
down your computer last time). Let your scan process complete and see what
happened. And try to boot using "Safe Mode". And make sure your computer has
all updates from microsoft web site.
Best of Luck

From the Command Prompt boot run
C:\Windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

which loads the user interface of System Restore - then restore to a
point made a day of so back
