Windows update site informed me about SP2 for my system
as critical. I requested for its download and
installation. The download was done followed by
installation. It appeared that th installation would be
completed. But, I saw a message 'Access Denied' and it
started rolling back. Uninstallation started and finally
I get a message that SP2 is partially installed and that
the system may not work properly. It rebooted. I have
on ly system windows xp sp1 fully installed. I got from
local dealer the CD also. I tried the installation
procedure after removing SP2 from windows programs from
add remove. It proceeded as above and came to the same
stage of access denied and the unistallation started and
old files that were removed were placed back. It
rebooted. I have norton internet security + antivirus
that is always enabled. I do not have any TV media
card. I have windows media player and some cd writer
software. Could you tell me why this is happening? Is
there any solution or none?

Hi

Try disabling your AV program for the installation. Having an AV program
enabled during the installation has caused problems.

Make sure that the user who is trying to install the service pack is a
member of the Administrators security group.

Are you logged onto your WinXP system as the Administrator, when you are
performing this upgrade?
