Hello:
I have had trouble with some Symantec software and was
told to back up the registry.
While attempting this, I have noticed that the path to
the backup command listed by the tech rep and Microsoft
is NOT the same on my computer. In the Symantec
instructions concerning backing up the registry, it
states the path as follows:
Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools >
Backup...
My version of Windows XP Home Edition does not have a
backup option at this location. When I select "system
tools", I get the following options to choose from:
Acitvate Windows
Character Map
Disk Cleaner
Disk Degramenter
Files and settings transfer wizard
Scheduled Tasks
System Information
System Restore
As you can see, there is no option to select "backup". I
logged onto Microsoft.com and their website instructions
were the same as Symantec's was. So as you can see, I
can't back up the registry. I don't have an OEM version
of Windows XP. Not sure if that's important, but I saw
someone mention it in another letter.
Can someone please instruct me on how to resolve my issue?
Thank you,
Scott Leslie
