Windows XP Pro Service Pack CD

Hi all,

I had install the SP1 for my Windows XP Pro through the
service pack file downloaded from microsoft.
Recently, I uninstall some programs and it require me to
insert the Windows XP Pro Sercive Pack 1 CD in order to
maintain the system stability.

The sad thing is that I don't have that CD cause I
install the SP1 through the file downloaded from
Microsoft.
Furthermore, it didn't provide the function (button) for
me to browse to the folder where I keep the SP1 files
when it asked for that CD.

Can anybody please tell me how can I create the Windows
XP Pro Sercive Pack 1 CD by myself?

Thanks.

Hi gato,

I can't really get you.
What do u mean by network download? Do you mean download
the service pack from Microsoft webpage, then burn that
file to cd?
If that's the case, then that downloaded file is a *.exe
file.

Actually, I had tried to extract the service pack file
(*.exe) and then copy it to cdrw, but still cannot work. :
(

can you please explain more? thanks

You can try this as it might work
Extract the SP1 download to a to a folder on your root drive. For example to
C:\XPSP1 (or something similar)

Create a System Restore Point as you are about to modify the registry. If
you don't know how to create a System Restore Point go to Start->Help and
Support->Pick a task->click System Restore and follow the wizard.

Go to Start->Run and type REGEDIT to open the registry editor.

Expand the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

In the right hand pane double click "ServicePackSourcePath" key and modify
the value to c:\xpsp1

You might have to reboot.
