Windows Xp Pro Recycle Bin

Recently when deleting files from the recycle bin I got a message "Are you
sure you want to delete Windows?" I clicked "No" of course and noted the
recycle bin has no files in it but shows an envelope in the icon as though
there are files present.
I am running McAfee Internet Suite which reports no problems or spyware.
Has anyone else seen this?
I believe this began happenning after the recent Microsoft updates were
automatically performed.

Hi Doug

The file the Recycle Bin uses to keep track of what's in it, their
original names and where they came from has probably got damaged or
corrupted. The easiest and quickest way to fix it is to delete the
folder C:\Recycler (assuming your XP is on drive C:). The folder will be
recreated when you reboot.

Open a Command window (Start | Run, type "cmd" without the quotes, <OK>)
and type: RD /S /Q C:\Recycler <enter> then close the window and reboot
the PC.

The Recycle Bin icon will probably still be showing "full" when you come
back to the desktop. Just copy any file and delete the copy so it goes
into the bin, then empty the bin and hopefully all should be well :)

Let us know how you get on.
