I currently own a new Toshiba laptop, Windows XP Pro w/ Service Pack 2
installed. Everything works fine except for one problem that happens a
few times a day: When I open a folder (whatever folder: my pictures,
my music, my computer, etc...) explorer will freeze. Sometimes this
happens when I use Internet Explorer, it will freeze... In order to
continue working on the frozen window, I have to open a new explorer
window (or open a new internet explorer window), and the frozen window
will then be ok, not frozen anymore. This problem happens a few times
a day, unexpectedly.

Initially I had some software installed on this laptop (Nero, WinDVD,
Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, MS Office 2003 w/ FrontPage, Skype,
Messenger, Anti-Virus, Fingerprint software, etc). I thought this
problem was related to a software I had installed, so last night I
formatted my laptop and again reinstalled Windows XP Pro, updated to
Service Pack 2, installed drivers and some hotfixes from the CD that
came with this Toshiba Laptop, but no luck yet, problem continues.

I tried researching the web and google groups for those who had
similar problems, but all issues I found were different from what's
happening on my machine. Therefore I decided to post here, seeking
help from someone who may have an idea on how to resolve this issue.

I'm out of options, your effort to help me is very appreciated. Thanks
in advance.

According to the rules of MVP Good Post one should never post separate
identical messages to several newsgroups. From my view it seems that your
problem is Internet Explorer (IE7?) interacting with other programs,
consequently should it should have been posted in the group of "Internet
Explorer 6/Outlook Express". Why not go to the group and do a search by using
the "Search For" and type "explorer freezes" and hope for any relevant posts?
