Windows XP PC will not come out of hibernation

I have set the enable Hibernation Feature from the Hibernate tab under Power
Options. Unfortunately although my PC seems to go into hibernation it wont
then come back out. The PC is definitely running or a least the fan in the
power supply is but no amount of mouse moving or key pressing has any
effect. I have been told that I probably have an incompatible piece of
hardware. How can I track down the culprit?
