Windows XP not loading

OK, here is my trouble...

The PC boots up OK but does not get to XP - I get a blank screen with
no HD activity.

I have managed to boot (f8) in Safe mode.

I have tried the following without success:

1. In Safe Mode, system restore (XP gives some silly message that I
cannot do this because of Disk space!)

2. Boot using XP CD: system hangs in Windows Setup Blue Screen with no
other activity

3. re-install/upgrade XP using CD in Safe Mode: go around in circle
when PC restart during re-install>>> I ended with blank screen after
boot up!!!

Can anybody help, please!!

If it's happening before XP loads, it is not an XP issue. The first thing
to do is to check your hard drive. Go to the hard drive manufacturer's
website, find their diagnostic tools, make note of the instructions for the
diagnostic and creating the necessary boot floppy, then boot from that
floppy and run the manufacturer's diagnostics to see if the hard drive has
failed or is failing.
